Gary Burdey was born and raised in Winnipeg receiving his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from the University of Manitoba in 1968.  Gary articled with an international firm of chartered accountants qualifying as a CA in 1972.

Gary’s professional experience includes both a local Manitoba practice and an international firm from 1968 to 1973 providing a wide range of professional services to Manitoba businesses of all sizes.  In 1973, Gary joined the Audit Services Bureau of Supply and Services Canada as an Audit Supervisor having responsibility for internal and external audits of various Federal Government programs and departments, utilizing both Government staff and contract staff performing advanced audit techniques such as analytical and operational auditing and statistical sampling.

Gary joined Terry and Hart as a partner in 1978 and continues to provide a full range of professional services to clients in a wide variety of industries.

Gary continues to give of his time and talents as a volunteer to many service and charitable organizations in our community including:

• St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish, Financial Secretary and Credit Union Manager 1976-77
• Arthur E. Wright Community School Parents’ Association, Treasurer and President 1978-80
• The Commerce Club of Winnipeg Inc., Treasurer, Director, Vice-President & President 1979-84
• Maples Recreation Association Inc., Treasurer and President 1982-85
• Maples Multiplex Centre Inc., Treasurer organizing and constructing an indoor arena for the Maples community 1986-90
• Rotary Club of Central A.M., Treasurer 1989-91
• Seven Oaks General Hospital member Board of Trustees 1991-97, Chairman Finance Committee 1994-00
• Seven Oaks Lions Club, Treasurer of District Midwinter Conference 1992-93

Gary has been involved in professional development both as a participant throughout his career and as developer for government employees during his government service.

Gary is married to Paula and they have three children and one grandchild.

Gary is a keen golfer and cottager at Spruce Sands, Manitoba.
